**Update 4/8/2019**
**April 2020**
As Sam narrows down his options, and is plotting his course in this unprecedented time we are in. Sam has been contacted by Holy Cross (IN) and Coach Mike McBride, who has had interest in Sam, since June of 2019. Sam actually took a visit to HC and met Coach McBride.
**March 2020**
One fascinating thing you may not know about Sam Bearden is that he has a full academic scholarship to the University of Louisville. Sam desires to play basketball at the next level, but has also prepared for life after basketball. A very mature, and hyper-focused young man, Sam values education and is truly a student-athlete.
Update 8/13
Sam had a fantastic tournament at the Peach State, which included a monster game of 27 points and 20 rebounds including a tip-in to force OT where the game was won. His versatility was a constant problem for opposing players as Bigs couldn't handle his speed and guards couldn't handle his ability to work in the post. Sam also had a great weekend at the All-In Hoopfest in Louisville and was a part of another championship in the Gold Bracket.
**Update 7/9**
Sam had another strong spring and early summer. The versatile small forward, all spring and early summer, showed why he can compete with anyone. On a trip to IPFW and Holy Cross in June, he had his most efficient play, while displaying his versatility. We look forward to seeing him in Aiken, S.C. at Peach State during July's Live Period.
Based off evaluations, level of competition Sam is facing, Sam Bearden is really improving is overall game. A tweet compared him to Nic Reed, former Prospect and current ONU standout, and leader in the NAIA statistical achievements. Sam has a versatile game, at 6'5, can handle the ball, shoot well from 3, can play effectively with his back to the basket, and rebound really well, we are seeing the evolving of Sam's game. He's a hard and extremely committed young man, who is also faith and family-driven!
**Update 9/20/2018**
Sam is working on his game and his body, this off-season. He is working hard at Edge Sports Performance, here in Louisville, Kentucky. Edge has worked with our student-athletes before and will surely assist Sam with his development. Sam is committed to academics and his craft!
**Update 8/4/2018**
As for many underclassmen to participate in the all-star game, Sam adjusted to the speed of the game and collective talent on the floor. He exhibited why he earned a spot and played to his potential. We are excited to continue seeing the development and maturation of this student-athlete.
Update 8/1/2018
Sam was invited and will participate in the 21st Annual Battle of the Bridges Kentucky All-Stars. This all-star game is slated for seniors-to-be, but it is Sam's potential that afforded him the opportunity to participate.
Update 4/1/2018
The Louisville Prospects welcome Holy Cross Forward Sam Bearden. Sam averaged 10.2 ppg this season for Holy Cross. A stretch 4 who is very skilled and a good shooter from 3 pt range. We are very excited to have Sam playing for the Prospects.
